Trekking
Small-group treks to remote Lahu, Shan and Karen villages, with village homestays.
All tour prices include a 10% surcharge.
Let our local, TAT-registered, English-speaking guides take you deep into the Pang Mapha area, where you can discover some of the more remote Lahu, Shan and Karen villages and explore spectacular natural caves.
Our treks are designed as small-group adventures, offering a more personal and authentic experience away from the busy, well-trodden trekking routes. You will walk through beautiful forests and mountain landscapes for around 4–5 hours per day, and experience local village life, staying overnight with welcoming communities.
This is a great choice for guests who want to spend more time in nature, explore beyond the usual tourist routes, and experience the local culture at a slower pace.
Minimum group: 4 people per trip. Smaller groups can also be arranged by paying the difference to cover the minimum group cost.
We offer two different routes for the 2-day trek:
Experience both villages (Karen and Red Lahu villages plus the cave), staying overnight in each. The total walking distance is approximately 30–35 km.
Note: The route may be changed depending on weather conditions, trail conditions and the situation at the time of the trek, and your guide may adjust the itinerary to suit the group.
The overnight stay is in a simple local village home, together with a local host family – a genuine homestay experience. Each guest has a mattress, pillow, blanket and mosquito net. You are welcome to bring your own sleeping bag if you prefer; however, there may not be enough space for tents.
Meals are prepared locally during the trek. Please let us know in advance how many guests are vegetarian or vegan, and any food allergies or dietary restrictions, so we can inform the village and make suitable arrangements.
A storage room is available at Cave Lodge for belongings you don’t need on the trek, and we also have a safe for valuables. After the trek you are welcome to refresh yourself before continuing your journey – we have a shower room and towels available. Please let us know if you would like to use them.
We recommend bringing only what you need for the 2–3 days:
Please be prepared for changing weather, as rain is possible in the jungle, particularly during the wet season.
Ask our staff or contact us with any questions.
