Trekking Trip 1: To a Karen Village & a Beautiful, Easy Cave

Discover the local village and experience the traditional Karen way of life with a local guide. Along the way, learn about local plants and herbs and see Karen women weaving clothes and blankets using traditional backstrap looms. An excellent one-day trip for everyone!

The walk to the village begins from Cave Lodge and is about 6–8 km, depending on the starting point. For guests who prefer a shorter or easier walk, we can drive you part of the way up the hill and start the walk from a point accessible by vehicle, reducing the walking distance to the village.

The trail takes you through the forest, across fields and streams before reaching a beautiful natural cave. Please note that the cave visited on this tour is not Tham Lod cave. This cave has a low entrance followed by over a kilometre of easy, beautifully decorated, dry passage – one of the top caves in the district.

For guests who are fit and looking for a little more adventure, ask your guide about the possibility of visiting another wild cave along the way.

After exploring the village and surrounding area, you make your way back to Cave Lodge, crossing the river several times along the route.
